Speed Racer Sherri

Move over Danica Patrick , Sherri DuPont has gotten a taste of the racing world and she likes it! Sherri has always had a need for speed. In her high school and university days she used to race Camaros with her father on the East Coast of Florida.

As a special birthday present, Vice President of Collins & DuPont, Kim Collins, and Chief Operating Officer, Mike Vizzi, gave Sherri a gift she had wanted for a long time: a day at BMW’s Performance Driving School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Sherri attended “M-School” – driving the newest M3s, M5s, and M6s around a race track at high speeds. She learned how to handle these beautiful automobiles in a variety of circumstances, how to correct both an over and under steer, about braking points and G. Forces, and to let her enthusiasm for driving out.

Our fearless leader had a blast! You can see the joy in her face and hear it in her voice as she describes listening to the engine and exhaust so she knew when to switch gears with the paddles on the steering wheel. She learned to steer at high speeds by looking beyond the approaching corner instead of directly in front of her. Sherri says of the experience: “It was like Disney for grown ups. It was the most fun I’ve had in ages, and so exhilarating! The enormous rush of adrenaline was thrilling and it took a week to wipe the goofy smile off my face!”.
